“The Centre Of The World”


In the first episode of the Quest, we take a look at what’s known about the origins and formation of the Knights Templar, including their exploits in the Holy Land and query some of the speculation regarding the order. Dr Helen Nicholson, expert on the Knights Templar helps unravel the truth behind the myth.

The Quest then continues following in the footsteps of the Knights Templar, to Royston and studies the Royston Cave; and the carvings attributed to the Knights Templar. We look at the work of the first archaeologist to visit the site, the Rev William Stukeley. Dr Paul Nicholson explains in detail, Stukeley’s work, and compares his drawings of Royston, Silbury Hill, Stonehenge and other sacred sites.


Sylvia Beamon, archaeologist, explains the origins of the cave and how it came to be discovered. We study the carvings and the various theories; and take a look at the original sketches and plates, held in the Royston Museum.

Volume One ends with the discovery of a second cave, close to the original one; and the investigation of that cave with Ground penetrating Radar.

The Quest then continues its journey to Denny Abbey in Cambridgeshire. Denny Abbey was once home to aged and infirmed member of the Knights Templar. It is here we meet Barry Walker, who has spent 35 years investigating and researching the order.

Our journey goes on to Templecombe in Somerset, to evaluate “the head painting”, where we make a significant discovery.  From here we travel  to Hertfordshire, to the ancient Neolithic site of Therfield Heath. The Quest studies the ancient Druid connections and calls on the expert help of Professor Ronald Hutton, to explain what is known about ancient pagan civilizations.


Close by we visit the village of Cottered to study the Medieval painting in the Church dedicated to Mary Magdalene. The painting suggests A trip to the Bodleian Library at Oxford University, is in order, to investigate the ‘Gough’ Map, the earliest known map of England. The library’s expert, Nick Millea explains what is known about the map in detail.

We learn about the ancient hieroglyphic language of the ‘Rabbit’, and how the Druids and the Knights Templar used this language to communicate. Hamish Miller, expert on the world’s energy lines, explains the theory of Ley Lines and Energy Lines; how the ancient civilizations would travel

between sacred sites a practice adopted by the Knights Templar.

From Oxford we travel to the village of Clothall in Hertfordshire, where another discovery is made, an ancient Knights grave, which has all the markings of a Knight’s Templar.  We discover the mysterious legend of Clothall and the tale of Mary Magdalene who was allegedly born in the village and worked at the nearby Hospitallier’s Leper Hospital.
